A weak low pressure system affects northern parts of the North Island today and tomorrow, while a ridge of high pressure builds over the South Island and extends into the lower North Island. On Monday and Tuesday, a trough embedded in an easterly flow affects the north of the country, while high pressure covers the rest of Aotearoa New Zealand. During Wednesday, high pressure lies over the North Island, while a northerly flow develops over the South Island. On Thursday, a frontal rainband moves north over the South Island, and is expected to reach the lower North Island late in the day.
